3 ways to use your histograms to make your images better
Alright well, this is my 3rd blog post!! Today,I wanted to inform you guys of a Term called " photography Histograms".For starters, examining the histogram will allow one to adjust the proper exposure of light in an image. I know what your thinking, "why can't i just view the backside of the camera". Although the screen of the camera gives an accurate depiction of the picture, it can be deceiving and can lead to low, uneven, or high exposure. To enable this feature( on most Nikon and cannon cameras)follow these steps.
1."go to the playback menu"
2."click playback display options"
3.scroll to overview
4. Then, press the right side of the multi selector . press ok
5. once feature is enabled, press the down, or up buttons on the multi selector.( for cannon press Image review)
what you will see after following these steps is a graph displaying the differing lighting tones in the image you captured . The bigger the waves on the graph are, the greater the amount of darker/light exposure. it is important to try and a achieve a graph with evenly distributed exposure. Also, it is important to remember that depending on your technique, no histogram will really look the same. so don't stress!
overall, photography histograms come in on different shapes and sizes, knowing how to achieve one takes practice, and patience. soon your images will come out with nice evenly distributed exposure!!
